Aussies Win the Golden Spanner

Australian Isuzu truck technicians have taken out this year’s prestigious Golden Spanner Award at the Isuzu World Technical Competition held in Japan.

The team, comprising Westar Truck Centre Melbourne’s James Daffy, Brisbane Isuzu’s Bernie Pease and Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) NSW service manager Adam Bell as coach, competed against and defeated entrants from 20 Isuzu truck distributor nations from across the world. The Australian team built on last year’s creditable fourth placing to unseat defending champions Japan.

The victory completes a six month process for the team members in which they first had to see off competitors as part of IAL’s own domestic National Technical Skills competition for the right to represent IAL and the Australian dealer network at the international competition.
